Nita Ambani launched, first 'Swadesh' handicrafts store in Hyderabad
Nita Ambani, the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, launched the first 'Swadesh' handicrafts store in Hyderabad to support and promote Indian craftwork. The store serves as an ode to Indian art and artisans. At the launch event, Nita Ambani expressed her delight in beginning the journey of 'Swadesh' from Hyderabad, acknowledging India's rich cultural and traditional history. She also mentioned that Swadesh is a humble tribute to the artisans of India.
During the launch of the first standalone Swadesh store at Alcazar Mall in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, she had the chance to meet several notable people, including Sania Mirza, PV Sindhu, and Namrata Shirodkar. The Swadesh stores aim to showcase India's centuries-old art forms and creative expressions to the world while also creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisans and craftspeople. This ensures that their work continues to be valued in a rapidly evolving world.
Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), aims to source over 600 craft forms through its latest initiative. The initiative is in line with their objective and will feature a collection of carefully curated products made by hand, using long-forgotten techniques and local materials, by India's skilled and talented artisans. The first Swadesh store in Jubilee Hills spans 20,000 sq ft and will showcase these unique products.
At the store, visitors can explore various zones featuring products such as food, clothing, textiles, and handicrafts. With the help of the "Scan and Know" technology feature, visitors can learn about the story behind each product and its maker. Additionally, the store offers a unique customization service, allowing customers to collaborate with the Swadesh team and create one-of-a-kind products. The store also includes a café that follows the farm-to-table concept, perfect for food enthusiasts.
